Hi guys! So, I finally finished my travels and am officially in Zurich! I am so exhausted and excited at the same time. Finally, after about 15 hours of traveling I am made it to a country I have never been, but so longed to see.
First off, let me just say, taking a 9 hour red eye flight seems like a good idea, but there is never a position that is comfortable enough and you will not sleep. Luckily, my friend and I shared a row and were able to spread out haha. Honestly, one of the reasons why I couldn't sleep was probably from a combination of nervousness and excitement.
I mean, come on! I get this once in a lifetime opportunity to explore a new place in the world, but man am I a nervous traveler. Luckily it was so much better than I thought.
Our first flight took us to London, where we had to wait for a few hours for our connecting flight. After our first flight the other girls and I trecked to another terminal and once we went through security again, we were able to be revitalized by coffee. I don't know if London puts something different in their coffee, but it brought us back to life- we felt so much better and our energy/moods skyrocketed. We then walked around the shops and had so much fun coming up with plans on what to do once we got to Zurich.
Once we boarded our second flight, I fell asleep due to my exhaustion and caffeine crash. This sleep was so needed, but luckily I woke up, 10 minutes before we landed, to a beautiful view of Zurich. I just had to take a picture so that everyone else could see too.
We then grabbed our luggage and were greeted by our host mom, Theresa. She helped us learn how to get a train ticket and navigate the train system since it is the #1 form of transportation there.
My host family's house and school are actually in Wadenswil, which is just a 25 minute train ride from Zurich. It would be closer but the Lake of Zurich is right in between, but I'm not complaining because the view from our house is impeccable. So once we got off the train, we walked 10 minutes to our host family's house and were greeted by our host father, Erwin. They are both retired and have a son that lives next door who is a teacher at the school we will be student teaching at. They've hosted many students before and seem really nice to far.
Well, we just finished dinner and it's about 11 pm, and I am exhausted.
I'll write more about my travels later, but mama needs some rest.
Night!
